![]() ![]() One place they are not even CLOSE is the pigtails/pnp clips each company provides. ID1000cc: Who cares? These are old tech nowīoth these injectors came with a bunch of flow and dead time data, so they are equal on those fronts. This was really cool to me and something I did not expect.įIC 1050cc (EV14s I think, they used an EV14 plug): $530ĭonkey Power Injection 1200cc (EV14s): $490 My first tank on the DPIs was 28.5 mpg, and I have not seen below 27mpg combined since putting these injectors on, and if anything I have been driving the car harder lately. This was majority highway cruising/beating on the car on the highway. With the 10+ tanks I put through the FIC1050cc injectors, I registered between 25-26.5 mpg consistently. But after I used these for a few tanks, I was honestly really surprised to see I was getting better mpg. The guys at DPI told me when I bought these that their injectors had really good atomization, and that they were super awesome, blah blah blah sure whatever everyone needs to market their product. In addition to being more responsive, the car behaves just as well in all other part throttle situations compared to the FIC injectors.ĭuring my observation there was no difference between the two injectors, both never showed any issues, I just have much lower duty cycle with the DPI 1200cc's As a result the motor feels a lot more lively (these specific impressions are from before I added the type s pump and 9 pound flywheel to my car). However, with the DPI injectors installed, there is a definite change in the response of the motor in these situations. I always chalked this up to switching from the RSX type S pump back to the Z3 pump that contained balance shafts. Ever since I switched from my K20/24 to the turbo K20 there was a noticeable difference in throttle response when blipping the throttle on downshifts. The largest difference between the DPI and FIC injectors was the on/off throttle response. ![]() Here's a video: No popping even with 1200cc's and 70psi of base pressure!! It does still have an intermittent 'pop' at idle, but you will maybe hear it 1-2 times tops over 10-15 minutes of idle, which is far less frequent than before. With these 1200cc's the car idles almost completely like stock which really impressed me. ![]() I didn't realize it until I put these injectors on that the FICs idled a little more unevenly (my exhaust before sounded like it my car had a bigger cam, I thought it was just because of the straight pipe). To be honest I was a little worried initially putting these injectors on since they were larger than the FICs but right from the initial map, these guys fired up and idled really, really well. I understand this is also an issue with ID injectors I also had to work with Jeff to keep the car from having a rough warm start, which was never completely corrected. With my FICs, the idle from a standstill was fairly consistent, but the car would 'pop' intermittently at idle, which to my understanding is a relatively common experience trying to idle large injectors on this car. I think with the returnless fuel system plus a crushed fpr that gives me about 70psi base pressure at idle, looking at how the injectors idle tells a decent amount about how good they are. ID1000s, as I think FICs are better than those injectors. I also feel that this serves as a good comparison vs. ![]() So now that I have had a fair amount of miles and a complete tune on both sets of injectors, I feel like it's a good time to share my opinion of my Donkey Power Injection 1200cc's vs my old FIC 1050s.
